“2024 Hyundai Motor CEO Investor Day” held at Conrad Seoul Hotel on the 28th = Kyodo News (c) News1
[September 1st, Korea Wave] South Korea’s Hyundai Motor has announced “EREV (Extended Range Electric Vehicle)” as a new technology and is developing a next-generation electric vehicle (EV) with high marketability. The EREV can travel more than 900km on a full charge and is cheaper than an EV. The EREV is similar to a hybrid vehicle, but has both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor. Unlike hybrid vehicles, EVs are powered solely by electric motors. The engine charges the battery, extending the vehicle’s range. This makes it highly useful even in areas where charging infrastructure is lacking. Hyundai plans to provide consumers with high driving convenience through its EREV vehicles, and by reducing battery capacity by about 30%, it plans to ensure price competitiveness against EVs in the same class. At the 2024 Hyundai Motor CEO Investor Day held on August 28 at the Conrad Hotel in Seoul, Hyundai Motor Vice President Kim Heung-soo, in charge of global strategy, said, “Just as hybrid vehicles, which once had no demand, are now successful in the market, attention will be focused on how competitive the EREV will be in the future.” September 1, 2024, 13:00 Origin: South Korea.
I thought it was just a series HV, but it’s actually a BEV with a generator lol.

How is it different from a series-type EV?

It’s a motor-driven PHEV.

The mileage can be increased by making the battery bigger or the fuel tank bigger, but it becomes heavier, and the funny thing is that for some reason the article doesn’t mention the fuel economy per liter.

It looks like they put an engine in an EV. The only difference with the Nissan one seems to be the battery capacity.

Let’s do something about the incendiary device first.

I think an EV with a range extender isn’t a bad choice, as long as it has a non-flammable battery lol.

The Nissan Note’s e-power has been around since 2016, so it’s kind of the next generation.

It’s quite possible that a car could be scrapped after 900km.

I thought it was e-power just from the thread title, and it turned out to be e-power.

When mainly on the highway, it gets 10km per liter, which is a bit of a rare gas.
By the way, e-power also gets better fuel economy on regular roads (suburban areas) than on the highway.

Even a hybrid car can easily go 1000km if you keep a portable fuel can in the trunk.

If you drive your Nissan Note in an energy-efficient manner, you can probably get up to 900km, right? My e13 says it has a range of about 600km when the tank is full.

It’s a curious mechanism that Toyota, which is always eager to adopt anything that looks good, isn’t following suit, but what is the actual situation?

>>46 If you use an engine, there are situations where it’s more fuel efficient to let the engine drive it. Toyota probably thinks that in places where the parallel series system is good at engine drive, it’s better to just use the engine.

>>46 Far from the trace, when they considered hybrids, they also considered series type, and the result is the current THS system. Nissan had no choice but to go to e-power to avoid Toyota’s patent. For other manufacturers, the only way to easily produce hybrid cars is with extended hybrids, and if you make it well, you can get decent fuel economy.

If you give it a unique name like this, it will become the origin. In 5 years, people will be saying things like, “Wow, even backward Japan has erev?”
