[Paris Paralympics] “It’s unpleasant to climb up in your shoes and stomp on people” – criticism focused on the “production” of the Paralympics opening ceremony that disrespects the piano.

The opening ceremony of the Paris Paralympics took place on August 28th local time (early morning of the 29th Japan time), mainly around the Place de la Concorde. While the event kicked off with the same grandeur as the Paris Olympics, the use of the piano in the production once again drew criticism. At the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, which was held on July 26th local time, the piano was played while exposed to the rain, and there was even an extreme performance in which the piano was set on fire. Furthermore, at the closing ceremony on August 11th, some criticised the extreme staging, which included hanging the piano in the air. Ten pianos were used at the beginning of this year’s opening ceremony as well. While one was being used for the musical performance, the remaining nine were used as part of the dance performance, with performers stepping on the keys with their shoes on and climbing on top of them. This drew criticism from across Japan on social media late at night, with comments such as, “I understand it’s staged, but I just can’t accept this…”, “Dancing on top of the piano? Does France have some grudge against pianos? LOL”, and “Climbing on it in dirty feet and trampling on it is just plain unpleasant.” Compiled by: the digest Editorial Department.

As far as I can see from the picture, it doesn’t look much different from the one at the opening ceremony in Tokyo, right?

Are you stupid?

Just looking at the pictures, it looks similar to the one in Tokyo.

The burning of the piano at the Paris Olympics was awful. Why do people waste musical instruments like that?

In a manga I know, the piano was played with the feet.

Didn’t Apple get criticized for doing something similar? Are they trying to portray themselves as a progressive country that’s breaking down traditional values? They’re still exploiting black people like they always have, and they’re trying to take the country away from the natives, but they think they’re progressive.

Kondo Masaomi played with his feet, but I don’t think he had his shoes on.
It’s an indoor scene, so he probably didn’t have his shoes on.

I just played with my toes instead of my fingers.
That’s something someone without hands might do.

When you think of playing the piano with your feet, Masaomi Kondo comes to mind.

I saw this on TV and thought this. I don’t know if this is a real piano or a figurine shaped like a piano, but I think this kind of performance is from Iran. I don’t know about recent times, but in the past I often saw videos of rock and heavy metal musicians getting so excited during performances that they smashed their guitars or basses into the ground. I guess the director of the Paris Olympics is the kind of person who thinks that kind of thing is cool.

That kind of thing is old and uncool, and I think you guys were talking about the SDGs, weren’t you?

That’s just your opinion, isn’t it?
Can you stop pretending it’s the consensus of the masses?

Kondo Masaomi played the piano with his feet in Judo Icchokusen, but he didn’t do it with his shoes on. And was the Paralympics opening ceremony directed the same as the Olympics? They’re aiming too avant-garde and decadent.

Maybe burning the piano is going too far.

A forest piano.

> Criticism came from across Japan in the middle of the night. Is this a Japanese person saying this lol? It’s common for rock bands to destroy guitars. Japanese people are such complainers.

At Kan’s live performance, he made a grand piano mold and added an electronic piano to the keyboard area, and performed by standing on the top part of the piano.
0029Anonymous @I’m sorry.Aug. 29, 2024 (Thu) 10:09:47.94ID:4aXjfrb/0
The whole performance makes you wonder if he has some grudge against the piano.

Please step on the piano.
0039Anonymous @I’m sorry.Aug. 29, 2024 (Thu) 10:12:04.83ID:jbZqlKa/0
Why the piano? It’s irrelevant. Wouldn’t it have been better to smash the wheelchair?

Looking back, the opening ceremony of the Tokyo Paralympics was great.

This performance would have been fine for people without hands.
