On the 12th, Kadokawa announced the number of malicious acts it was aware of, stating that it would take legal action against acts of spreading information following a cyber attack on the data center of a group company on June 8.
The company has previously announced in multiple releases that it has formed a cross-sectional countermeasure team with group companies Dwango Co., Ltd. and Kadokawa Dwango Gakuen, and is preparing to take legal action against malicious acts of spreading information.
The company has now released a document titled “Progress of measures against malicious acts of spreading information, etc.” As of July 10, 420 cases of malicious acts of spreading information related to Dwango and 53 cases related to Kadokawa Dwango Gakuen have been confirmed, and the Kadokawa Group has announced that it has requested the operators of SNS and anonymous bulletin boards to delete these acts, and is in the process of requesting the disclosure of sender information.
The deletion of several posts has already been confirmed, and preparations are underway to take strict legal action against identified senders. Furthermore, Kadokawa also revealed that they are preparing to take legal action, such as preserving evidence and filing criminal charges against those who spread information with the highest level of maliciousness. Kadokawa commented, “We will take strict action to minimize secondary damage to Kadokawa Dwango Gakuen students, alumni, and parents, creators, business partners, related parties, and employees of our group, and to protect their privacy and other rights and interests.” They warned that illegally disseminating other people’s personal information may be punishable by law.
