There was a male assistant who also joined Timee, in his 50s, who had a strange air about him and hardly spoke to either the staff or the children. The assistant’s duties were to watch over the children while they played and clean up, but I was also asked to accompany children to the toilet, which I felt was somewhat dangerous because it meant going one-on-one with the children. Because it is temporary, it is difficult to know fully what kind of people will be interacting with the children and you cannot take responsibility for them, so I think it is better to refrain from using it. It’s impossible to get stable full-time employment in after-school care due to the working hours, and there are no takers. If you’re going to take care of children’s lives, you have to pay them about 2000 yen an hour.
