Funai Electric, headquartered in Daito City, Osaka Prefecture, which sells “FUNAI” brand LCD TVs and other products, received a decision from the Tokyo District Court on the 24th to begin bankruptcy proceedings. As of the end of March this year, the company’s debt amounted to approximately 46 billion yen. When I read the employee’s comment, “I thought it would be a disaster, but it happened sooner and more suddenly than I expected,” I realized that company employees really do their jobs without thinking for themselves.

This would be perfect if there was a labor shortage, but in reality they just want cheap foreign slaves, so these 2,000 people may end up homeless.

For Japanese people who live off the yen, everything becomes more expensive and they become poorer because of the weak yen. Unless we vote to defeat the party that promotes a weaker yen, I think the yen will continue to weaken and life will become increasingly difficult.

Daito was still pretty close by, so I interviewed there about 30 years ago and passed the first round, but it was a short dream. The days when home appliances were popular are long gone, and I worked somewhere else and somehow managed to retire. Well, I guess I’ll just say thank you.

This is not uncommon overseas, but it is rare in large Japanese companies. In Japan, if you are fired from a large company, it is difficult to find another company of equal standing, so there is a certain degree of consideration when bankruptcy leads to firing.
