Russian Foreign Ministry says it will respond if US deploys missiles in Japan MOSCOW (Reuters) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Wednesday that Moscow would take retaliatory measures if the United States deploys missiles in Japan. The reason given was that it poses a threat to Russia’s security. “Russia has repeatedly warned Japan that it will be forced to take necessary and appropriate measures to strengthen its defense capabilities,” he said, adding that Japan should understand the implications of the revision of Russia’s doctrine on the use of nuclear weapons (national policy guidelines for nuclear deterrence) announced on the 19th.
