Man and Woman Admit Attempted Break-In Under ‘Oda Nobunaga’ Instructions

A man and a woman accused of receiving instructions from an account claiming to be “Oda Nobunaga” and attempting to break into a house in Mashiko Town, Tochigi Prefecture, with the intent of stealing money and valuables admitted to the charges at their first trial, saying, “There is no mistake.” Defendants Kentaro Mori (25) and Karin Sasaki (22) are accused of attempting to break into a house in Mashiko Town in September by heating the windows with a gas burner. At the first hearing held on the afternoon of the 5th at the Moka Branch of the Utsunomiya District Court, the two men admitted that the charges against them were “true.” In their opening statement, the prosecution pointed out that the two men received instructions from accounts claiming to be “Oda Nobunaga” and “Akechi Mitsuhide,” who are believed to have been used by the mastermind behind the series of robberies. During questioning of the defendant, Mori explained that he had heard it was a driver’s job and decided to participate, but that he was threatened using his personal information and so broke the window. He added, “The elderly woman who was victimized has been deprived of a place where she can live in peace.
