South Korean ruling party leader “promoting President Yoon’s resignation” effectively removed from duties [Yonhap News, Seoul] South Korean ruling party leader Han Dong-hoon said on the 7th, “In order to minimize confusion, we will promote the orderly resignation of President Yoon Seok-youl.” He made the remarks to reporters after a vote on impeachment proceedings against President Yoon at a plenary session of the National Assembly failed to pass due to a lack of a quorum and the bill was scrapped. Han explained that President Yoon has said he will follow the party’s decision regarding his term of office, so there should be no confusion surrounding his resignation. He also said, “We will proceed in a predictable and transparent manner in the best interest of South Korea and its people so as not to cause anxiety to the public,” and added that he would hold discussions with the main opposition Democratic Party of Korea. He emphasized that President Yoon will effectively be removed from his duties until his resignation, and that the prime minister and the party will consult with each other to ensure that there is no disruption to the running of national affairs. Han is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Han Deok-soo on the 8th. Yonhap News 2024.12.07 23:45

South Korea, the self-proclaimed world’s greatest democracy, has stripped the president of his powers and imprisoned him without any legal basis or even parliamentary approval.

Since there is an impeachment from within the prosecution, the judiciary may be on Yoon’s side as a former prosecutor.

No, it’s not okay.
The Secretary of Defense, who worked with Yoon to declare martial law, was arrested by prosecutors on suspicion of treason.
Yoon won’t get away with it.

Korean politics and society are in a state of paralysis. The business community will cry out in despair. Is it possible that the ruling party will be forced to step down, and then the ruling party will be dissolved and a new party will be formed to run in the presidential election?

What is the legal basis for removing a president from office after his impeachment was rejected?
South Korea continues to be in a state of anarchy.

North Korea’s chain of command is so messed up, isn’t it time to attack South Korea? We could take the country.

If a puppet government can be established through intelligence and incitement, that’s fine. The weakness of a democratic country is that even puppet governments are elected through elections.

If the president is removed from his position, won’t the Democratic Party effectively become the ruling party?
With the political and economic situation at a dead end, perhaps they’re trying to avoid responsibility by making the opposition party clean up the mess?
If the Democratic Party, whose leader is an insane party leader, takes the lead, it’s inevitable that the situation will get even worse.

Yoon is essentially finished politically, so the minority ruling party will have no choice but to give in. They can’t continue with national politics at a standstill for another two and a half years, so the impeachment will probably pass in the end. In reality, Yoon probably intended to capture the left-wing politicians and either kill them or send them to prison, and the option of arresting them for treason is still viable.

It’s a country with a dynastic revolution
and if they give in poorly, they’ll be completely crushed
so they’re trying to survive by surrounding the president
and taking away his official authority and exercising it.

The power of the people only has about one-third of the seats in the National Assembly, and Han himself is probably not even a member of the National Assembly. From now on, Yoon will be the president in name only, and we will be the ones in charge, but will the people be convinced?

I wonder how they’ll explain it.

There is nothing that Korean people can agree with about the current ruling party, so they have no choice but to ignore it and let the ruling party do what they want.
