Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony NHK’s live broadcast “Oh my!” “It was over in seconds!” Viewers scream at the Japanese athletes’ “too short broadcast.”
The Paris Olympics finally kicked off on July 26th local time. The unprecedented opening ceremony, held outside a stadium for the first time in history, was held in pouring rain. [Photos] We bring you some carefully selected shots of the best moments from the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, which was held outside a stadium for the first time in history! With a performance by Lady Gaga and other glamorous and stylish staging, each country’s delegation boarded a boat to cross the Seine River. Japan comes in 93rd, counting from perennial leader Greece. The flag bearers were Hanai Shigeyuki (men’s breaking) and Emura Misaki (women’s fencing). About an hour and a half after the start, it was finally Japan’s turn to be introduced, but like the other delegations, they were only shown for a very short time on NHK’s live broadcast screen, which broadcasts international footage. Disappointed fans posted a variety of comments online. “Oh? It was over in seconds!” “I missed it.” “Unfortunately it overlapped with an event.” “I didn’t even know who it was.” “The moment I looked away, it was gone.” “What a shame.” “I couldn’t see it at all.” “It was already hard to see because of the rain, and then it disappeared in an instant.” “I tried so hard to stay awake!” And so on, it seems viewers in Japan were left feeling unsatisfied.
You knew it was going to happen like this when the abc’s were shown in order. They should have switched to satellite broadcasting and shown it with NHK’s own cameras. They just kept broadcasting international footage. (´・_・`).
>>4 It’s the opposite. I should have just stayed on the international feed and waited for the country name to be called instead of switching to Unicam.
Although it is based on international footage, it seems like they could have included a little more footage unique to Japan, but I guess that was not possible.
It reminds me of the Italian Olympics. I think that was the year Nishikori and Takkyu Ai-chan were there, but when they entered the stadium, they just headed straight for the exit. They never came back and were never shown on TV again. It was a rare incident.
They probably decide the number of seconds based on the contribution to the Olympic Committee. They’re selling it for a bargain price. It’s late at night so no one’s watching.
