Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Gen. Oleksandr Shirsky, announced on the 15th that a military administrative command to handle local administrative functions has been established in “Ukrainian-controlled territory” in the Kursk Oblast in western Russia. The commander-in-chief also reported at a government meeting that Ukrainian forces had advanced in the Kursk region. It’s the 10th day of the Ukrainian army’s invasion of Kursk Oblast. This is the first time that Ukrainian troops have advanced so far into Russian territory since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. According to Reuters, Ukrainian Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Sergei Ilyich Siberia announced on the 15th that he had established a military command headquarters in the occupied areas of Kursk Oblast in western Russia, where cross-border attacks are continuing. This appears to be an attempt to prolong the occupation. For details, see source 2024/8/16 Previous thread.
>>9 It’s not okay to “attempt” to change the status quo by force, but the side that is actually attacked can do whatever they want. Otherwise, China and Russia would be able to do whatever they want.
The areas occupied by Ukraine are depopulated, so it’s unclear why they would send elite troops there, and the Western media is scratching their heads.
>>10 It seems Ukraine thinks that if Trump wins, they will be forced to sit at the negotiating table in Russia’s favor, so they’re probably securing bargaining chips. Well, in the end, it doesn’t look like Trump will become president.
Zelensky knows very well that creating something permanent here is important during ceasefire negotiations. I’m shocked at people who say he can just do whatever he wants.
>>24 Two brigades is fine. I can’t do anything. If you want, please come. On the contrary, I’d like to thank you for deliberately weakening us by drawing experienced soldiers from the Eastern Front.
The US has been providing weapons to Ukraine on the condition that they do not invade Russian territory, and it seems that they started cross-border attacks after Biden decided not to run for office, but is there a connection?
Even if Biden does not run, US policy will not change if Harris becomes president
Or did they start cross-border attacks when Trump became dominant, and the US just approved?
>>35 If the West recognizes the occupied territories as Ukrainian territory, the shackles on the use of supported weapons will be loosened. Ukraine probably wants that track record and precedent.
>>39 If we compare it to the Pacific War, it would be like sending the battleship Yamato, which should have been left behind to defend the capital in preparation for Operation Olympic and Operation Downfall, into Okinawa for a suicide mission, knowing that it would be a deadly death.
