According to JR West, at around 12:19 pm on the 16th, the “Hikari 505” train bound for Okayama came into contact with a futon on the tracks while traveling between Shin-Kobe and Nishi-Akashi stations on the Sanyo Shinkansen line, so the train was inspected at Nishi-Akashi station where it stopped. There were no abnormalities with the vehicle and it resumed operation at 12:46 pm. Services on the Sanyo Shinkansen were suspended near the incident, but staff at Nishi-Akashi Station removed the futons and services resumed on both lines at 1:07 pm.
