In August of this year, a son was arrested on suspicion of injecting supplements into his hospitalized mother’s IV drip, causing her death from pneumonia. Naoyuki Ito (62), an unemployed man from Minami Ward, Nagoya, was arrested in August this year on suspicion of causing death by injecting supplements dissolved in water into the IV drip of his hospitalized mother, Haruyo (then 85), causing her death from aspiration pneumonia caused by bacteria that had been mixed in the supplements. It says that the pneumonia was caused by bacteria, but is aspiration pneumonia related to IV drips?
