[Cosmetic medicine] “If you talk about salary, you get a 10,000 yen pay cut” – The reality of the unreasonable penalty system at TCB Tokyo Central Cosmetic Surgery Clinic “Everything has gone crazy.”
※9/12 (Thu) 7:13am distribution Bunshun Online Tokyo Central Cosmetic Surgery (TCB), a major plastic surgery clinic, is attracting attention for announcing the dismissal of all employees who joined the company this spring. Shukan Bunshun’s investigation revealed that the hospital has “service regulations” for its employees that stipulate, for example, “If you discuss salary with a colleague, you will receive a 10,000 yen pay cut.” We obtained internal documents. TCB is the second largest in the cosmetic surgery industry. “The company was founded in December 2014 by doctor Takeshi Aoki in Fukushima Prefecture. By September 2023, we will have reached 100 clinics nationwide, the fastest in the cosmetic surgery industry, in just 8 years and 9 months. Sales for the fiscal year ending February 2012 exceeded 68 billion yen, and the clinic has grown to become the second largest after Shonan Beauty Clinic.” (Major newspaper reporter) Regarding TCB, the online edition of “Weekly Bunshun” reported in an article published on September 4th that the company was “announcing mass firings” to new employees. The report detailed the heartbreaking voices of over 10 active nurses who said things like, “I was forced to take tests that I was certain I would never pass, and then my employment was terminated.” “Unreasonable” rules for employees After the report was published, several current TCB employees told “Weekly Bunshun” that “Everything at this clinic has gone haywire. The problem isn’t just about firing people.” One after another, heartbreaking voices were heard. And a new fact came to light: unreasonable rules for employees. If we talk about salaries, we will have a 10,000 yen pay cut. Here is a list. These are TCB’s service regulations that were obtained exclusively by Shukan Bunshun. One of the violations, out of a total of 51, read as follows: Continue reading below.
The pathetic thing about this country is that it doesn’t become public until Bunshun reports it, and the Labor Standards Inspection Office doesn’t take action.
On August 26th, the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare held its first meeting on cosmetic medicine, the “Study Group on the Appropriate Implementation of Cosmetic Medical Care,” saying that there has been an increase in dodgy cosmetic surgery clinics recently. The presidents and leading figures of various academic societies were there to talk about this and that, and regarding “Naomi” (the phenomenon in which students become cosmetic surgeons immediately after graduating from medical school and completing two years of initial training), President Takashi of the Japanese Society of Plastic Surgery only spoke in a tone that Naomi was something to be concerned about, but President Hisajime of Kyoritsu Cosmetic Surgery was furious, saying that a certain clinic that keeps hiring Naomi is crazy and has no morals. It’s amazing how a certain clinic is so bad that even colleagues are angry, and everyone knows where it is without even having to say where it is.
>>25 I’ve asked for advice but it didn’t help. So my boss got angry at me for embarrassing him, and I had to come up with some plausible reason to get a pay cut.
Of course in a declining communist country, everyone gets the same salary whether they’re good or bad at their jobs. With things like that, the brain drain to overseas continues. Hyundai’s head of Asia is someone they poached from Toyota. Even TBC would want someone with good skills to stay even if it meant paying them double. But the incompetent ones will get jealous when they find out.
If I can recognize my indecisiveness and incompetence in joining such a company and recover, I can survive in this crazy Japanese society, but if I can’t, I’ll be at the mercy of others for the rest of my life.
