There are 17 million people with “borderline intelligence” – between intellectual disability and the normal range. They have difficulty managing money, are easily deceived, have shady part-time jobs, etc. A doctor explains the difficulties in life and how to deal with them.

There are an estimated 17 million people in Japan, or about 14%, who are considered to have borderline intelligence. Even if a child is able to get through their school years without any trouble, they may encounter difficulties once they enter society. A specialist explains examples of difficulties faced by adolescents with “borderline intelligence,” how to deal with them, and the support needed in society. It is said that there are approximately 17 million people in Japan, or about 14%, who are of “borderline intelligence,” with an IQ between 70 and 84, or who are otherwise known as “intellectually borderline.” It is only once they enter society that they face real difficulties. People with “borderline intelligence” are caught between employment for people with disabilities and general employment and struggle to find employment. [Omitted] The greatest difficulties for people with borderline intelligence come not from their school days, but from when they enter society. This is because there are cases where people are caught between employment for people with disabilities and general employment and are unable to find work no matter how hard they try. If you obtain a disability certificate, you can receive employment support and placements under the “disability employment quota,” but because you cannot obtain a certificate with just borderline intelligence, you cannot receive employment support. For example, if a student attends school every day and, with the support of their family, submits assignments without fail, they may be able to advance to the next grade or go on to higher education, even if they have borderline intelligence. However, what is required of working adults is the ability to adapt and respond flexibly to unexpected events. People with borderline intelligence often have difficulty “adapting to situations.” In technical terms, this means “not being able to apply experience to real life.” In real life, there are cases where we encounter the following types of “difficulties.” For example, if a person has a poor concept of income and expenditure, they may go to the supermarket and end up spending more than they have in their pocket. Or, there are people who are able to ride the train alone, but if the train suddenly stops due to an accident or other reason, they are unable to think of an alternative route home and are unable to get home. One of the patients I have seen in the past was happy, saying, “My hourly wage at my part-time job has increased by 50 yen, so from now on I can spend an extra 1,000 yen a day.” However, even if your hourly wage increases by 50 yen for an eight-hour work day, it does not mean that you will have 1,000 yen more to spend. Another patient answered the question, “If something that costs 300 yen each was on sale for 1,000 yen for three items, would you buy it?” with, “I would buy it because it’s a good deal when it’s on sale.” As such, there are many cases where “it is difficult to even perform basic calculations.” Other characteristics of them are that they are easily deceived and cannot predict what will happen one step ahead. There are frequent reports of young people being deceived by shady part-time jobs advertised on social media and becoming involved in crimes. Since we have not conducted a proper investigation, we cannot say anything for certain, but we believe there is a possibility that some of the people involved in these crimes may be of borderline intelligence. From the average person’s perspective, it’s obvious that if they do something like that, they’ll be arrested immediately, so no one dares to do it. However, people with borderline intelligence have difficulty predicting what will happen next if they do something, so they may be fooled by sweet words and commit a crime. Even if people know intellectually that crime is wrong, they are unable to predict “what consequences their actions will bring about.” Continue reading on Coquelicot 2024/10/17 msm microsoft start ★1 2024/10/17 (Thu) 20:51:06.43 ※Previous thread 17 million people with “borderline intelligence” between intellectual disability and normal range. >>1 The result of leaving low-IQ people alone under the pretense of diversity of values is shady part-time work. Parents and other concerned parties need to intervene and educate people with low intelligence when they are young.
Isn’t an IQ of 75 or below considered intellectually disabled? >>1 says 70-75 is also the border.
Did they intentionally loosen the standards recently due to financial difficulties or something? Isn’t it strict that 70-75 isn’t the border, and should be classified as mildly intellectually disabled?
Otherwise, they wouldn’t apply for a shady part-time job that’s so risky. If they have an intellectual disability, they’ll likely end up in financial difficulty in some way.
These people are the core supporters of the Communist Party and Komeito, but Reiwa and the Democratic Party of Japan have targeted these people. When there are so many parties for the weak competing with each other, it becomes difficult for the opposition party to take power, so something needs to be done.
People with intellectual disabilities and developmental disorders are not aware that they have them People who are aware of it but develop it have borderline intelligence.
Kyuusoku feels like a gathering place for church intellectuals. They’re always getting excited about stuff from years ago, and are a typical bunch of people who are just barely making it.
However, the reason I got hooked on such a brutal moving job was not so much because of the money but because the work content suited me, who has ADHD, lol.
It’s been 35 years since then. I’ve been scammed out of my money a few times, burned my credit card and had to cry to my parents, but I’ve somehow managed to survive haha.
People call them “Giriken” (people who are just one step away from being certified as intellectually disabled). A male actor or director revealed that there are a lot of AV actresses who fall into this category.
