On the 5th, the Liberal Democratic Party’s Public Safety, Terrorism and Cybercrime Countermeasures Research Committee (chaired by Takaichi Sanae) compiled urgent proposals to strengthen countermeasures in light of the recent spate of robberies committed by unlicensed part-time workers. It clearly states that consideration should be given to introducing a system in which police officers would disguise their identities. In order to eliminate concerns that the move may violate current laws, they urged the government to establish guidelines and clearly explain the legitimacy of the move. The bill calls for strict identity verification from businesses offering highly confidential communication apps, and also mentions that they will be prohibited from providing services to those who do not comply. It will be submitted to the government soon. The proposal emphasizes that virtual identity investigations, in which investigators apply for illegal part-time jobs, are effective in apprehending perpetrators. “An investigation that can be deemed a legitimate act under the criminal law should be carried out as soon as possible,” he said. Even if the person being hired is Japanese and their identity is verified rigorously,
what happens if the employer is a foreigner from outside Japan?

If you do that, you can only get caught by a recruiter at best, or will you rise up in the anti-social world and become the boss, like in Mole Song?

When an undercover investigation passes through the Japanese bureaucratic filter, does it become a disguised identity investigation?

Just making it seem like there is a sting operation
will likely act as a deterrent, as people will become suspicious of the low-level sacrificial pawns and will find it harder to use them
and by carefully examining whether they can be trusted, the sacrificial pawns will be narrowed down to those more likely to cooperate with crimes
and it will be easier to treat the special forces as malicious, planned crimes.

Do you understand that a sting operation is a law enforcement technique that induces people to commit a crime, then has them carry it out and arrests them?
You say you’re examining scapegoats, but if you were to do a sting operation with illegal part-timers,
it would be an investigative method where the police recruit illegal part-timers and arrest what you call scapegoats.

It’s time to lift the ban on sting operations. The police have a lot of Nihon University alumni who are yakuza, so they’re probably internally opposed to it.

Sting operations that encourage people to commit crimes are not good, but they should at least try to catch everyone who applies and tries to carry out the crimes.

No, that’s why we should establish proper laws and not just run investigations based on whatever interpretation is convenient for us.
