Four High School Girls Arrested for Fraud-Related Illegal Part-Time Work

Four high school girls aged between 15 and 17 living in Saitama Prefecture were arrested by police and sent to family court for their involvement in multiple specialized fraud cases that took place in Saitama and Tokyo between July and September of this year. According to police, one of the victims, a 16-year-old high school student, applied for an illegal part-time job through social media in July and invited three friends to join him, repeatedly acting as a receiver and sender for special fraud schemes. The high school student was searching for a part-time job with a high hourly wage on social media when he was approached for a job that involved receiving and transporting cash, and so he ended up applying for an illegal part-time job. When questioned, he said, “I wanted money to have fun. He reportedly stated, “I did my own research into whether it was a crime and thought it was okay.”
