A 34-year-old woman was arrested in Toyohira Ward, Sapporo, for leaving her elementary school-aged son, under the age of 10, at home for three days. The person arrested on suspicion of assaulting a person in his/her care is a 34-year-old mother and contract employee who lives in Toyohira Ward, Sapporo. The woman is suspected of leaving her son, an elementary school student under the age of 10, at home sometime between 5:30 a.m. on the 20th and 3:00 p.m. on the 22nd, and going out, causing the son to become dehydrated. My son showed symptoms of dehydration and hypoglycemia and will be fully recovered in a week. According to the police, the woman and her son lived together, and the woman had gone on a trip to the Kanto region to see a live concert. Police became aware of the incident via a hotline call from the fire department at around 3:30 p.m. on the 22nd. The woman was then arrested. A female contract worker (34) said, “There’s no doubt about it. He is said to have admitted to the charges, saying, “I thought a few days would be okay.” Police are investigating the matter further, including the possibility that the woman had repeatedly abandoned the child. If you leave out the correct number of days for them to eat and drink this and that, then it’s fine. But if they’re too old to understand that, even if they’re in elementary school, or if the mother doesn’t prepare it, then it’s no good.

Well, I guess it’s because of her personality that her husband ran away, but I also think it’s strange that Japanese law gives custody to even the most worthless woman.
