8/9 (Fri) 7:34am delivery Your Shizuoka Shimbun Around 4:43pm on the 8th, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake, measuring a seismic intensity of 6-low, occurred in southern Miyazaki Prefecture. The epicenter was in the Hyuga Nada Sea, and the depth of the epicenter was approximately 30 kilometers. Because the area was located within the predicted epicenter of a major Nankai Trough earthquake, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued an emergency bulletin about the Nankai Trough earthquake at 5:00 a.m., stating that the area was “under investigation.” An emergency evaluation committee of experts began its investigation at 5:30 a.m. and concluded that “the possibility of a new large-scale earthquake occurring in the predicted focal area of the Nankai Trough earthquake is relatively higher than normal,” and at 7:15 a.m. they issued a “Massive Earthquake Warning.” The emergency information, called “Information Related to the Nankai Trough Earthquake” (emergency), began to be used in November 2017. In 2019, the name was changed to “Nankai Trough Earthquake Emergency Information” and the standards were revised to the current level. This is the first time it has been announced. The Japan Meteorological Agency has warned that if a new large-scale earthquake occurs, strong shaking is expected over a wide area from Kanto to Kyushu, including Shizuoka Prefecture, and high tsunamis are expected along the Pacific coast from Kanto to Okinawa, and has urged people to be vigilant for the next week or so. There is no need for the advance evacuation of residents in coastal areas that is required when a “major earthquake alert” is issued. The Fire and Disaster Management Agency of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications has issued a notice to 707 cities, towns, and villages in 29 prefectures, including our prefecture, which have been designated as areas for promoting disaster prevention measures in the event of a massive earthquake in the Nankai Trough, asking them to urge residents to prepare for evacuation. The emergency evaluation committee examined the relationship between this earthquake and the Nankai Trough earthquake. This earthquake was caused by a shift in part of the boundary between the land plate and the Philippine Sea plate, and after careful examination of the scale of the shift in the epicenter fault, it was determined that the moment magnitude was 7.0. Due to this earthquake, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a temporary tsunami warning for the prefectures of Kochi, Ehime, Oita, Miyazaki, and Kagoshima. About 50 centimeters of snow was observed in Miyazaki Prefecture. It was also observed in Kochi and Kagoshima prefectures. After the announcement of the Nankai Trough earthquake emergency information, “Watch out for a massive earthquake,” Hirata Nao, chairman of the Nankai Trough Earthquake Assessment Review Committee (professor emeritus at the University of Tokyo), who conducted the survey, held a press conference at the Japan Meteorological Agency and said, “The possibility of a (large-scale) earthquake occurring has increased by several times compared to normal.” “We need to be vigilant throughout the entire expected earthquake source area of the Nankai Trough for one week.” He called for disaster prevention action, saying, “Please follow the instructions of the government and local governments and reconfirm your daily preparations.” Regarding the fact that this earthquake occurred at the southwestern edge of the expected epicenter area, Chairman Hirata pointed out, “Based on past cases, there is a possibility that a huge earthquake will occur somewhere in the expected area, not necessarily in the west.” Regarding areas where disaster prevention measures should be taken, he said, “I cannot say at this point where,” but emphasized that caution is needed along the Nankai Trough, including this prefecture, and in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Specific disaster prevention actions mentioned include securing furniture in case of strong shaking and checking evacuation routes in case of a tsunami. The period in which caution is needed is one week, and the report explained that “based on data so far, there is a high possibility that a large-scale earthquake will occur immediately after the first earthquake.” “Large earthquakes often occur without warning. It all comes down to preparing for earthquakes on a regular basis,” he reiterated. ■Nankai Trough Mega-Earthquake An earthquake that occurs along the groove-shaped topography (trough) that stretches from Suruga Bay to the seabed off the coast of Hyuga-Nada. They generally occur at intervals of 100 to 150 years, and the government’s Earthquake Investigation Committee has calculated that there is a 70 to 80 percent chance that a magnitude 8 to 9 earthquake will occur within the next 30 years. In 2012, the government announced that it estimated that up to 323,000 people could die. Taking into account progress in disaster prevention measures, we have been reviewing our assumptions since last year. There have been two big earthquakes recently. We’re on the brink of an M8 earthquake. If the Nankai Trough were to break completely, it would be a disaster on a level never experienced by humanity. It would probably take more than 50 years to recover.
>>10 >>1 In Japan, where earthquakes are well prepared, buildings do not collapse even with a magnitude 5 earthquake, but in Korea, where earthquakes are not prepared, buildings collapse even with a magnitude 3 earthquake.
>>12 In times of disaster, there is an absolute shortage of plastic containers to hold water, not water itself. If you want to be prepared, use plastic containers.

It seems they have started to consider it. I don’t know unless they tell me the specific figures. As long as I’m insured and it turns out to be a mistake, it’s meaningless information.
If this were to happen, it would be the biggest crisis in the history of Japan’s founding, and we may be forced to live at a lower standard of living than Japan immediately after the war.
Even if we say we should be careful, we still have to shop in hiding like in war movies. It’s probably best not to go into a liquor store. It looks like he’s seriously injured.
>>45 The disappointment on TV is obvious to the viewers So they’re desperately announcing the connection to the trough and stirring up anxiety This is what leads to the boy who cried wolf.
