Two Korean men were arrested on suspicion of smuggling “gold bars worth 52.82 million yen” under an airplane seat, possibly attempting to evade consumption tax.
Last August, two Korean men were arrested on suspicion of attempting to smuggle approximately 6 kilograms of gold bars, worth 52.82 million yen. The gold bars were found on the plane upon arrival at Centrair. Suspects Lee Jun-gyu (45) and Song Jin-hwa (38), both Korean nationals living in Tokyo, were arrested in August last year on suspicion of attempting to smuggle approximately six kilograms of gold bars, worth 52.82 million yen, by hiding them under a seat on an airplane that arrived at Centrair from Taiwan. The plane was scheduled to be used for domestic flights after its arrival, and when officials from Nagoya Customs inspected the plane, they found a bar of gold covered in what appeared to be a cloth under a seat and reported this to the police. It is believed that by having Song take the gold bars that Lee had brought into Japan on a domestic flight, they were attempting to evade the consumption tax that should have been paid when the gold was imported. Police and customs have not revealed whether the two have admitted to the allegations. September 26th (Thursday) 18:28 Tokai TV.
>>1 This is the basic premise for Koreans traveling to Japan. They are couriers of precious metals and drugs, and once they arrive they commit crimes such as burglary and rape. They are guided by Koreans living in Japan.
> He hasn’t revealed whether he admits to the crime or not. The police are keeping it a secret, but 90% of Koreans deny it, so this guy is probably denying it too. He’s probably saying things like “I didn’t know” or “It was someone else’s luggage” by now.
All Koreans and Chinese should be denied entry. Those who are living in the country without permission should have their assets and property confiscated and be deported. They should never be allowed to enter the country again. If they resist, they should be immediately killed.
By the way, if you bring it in normally you pay the equivalent of a consumption tax when you enter the country, and if you take the money with you when you leave the country you get the consumption tax refunded.
Is this tax evasion by taking advantage of the fact that the same aircraft is used for both international and domestic flights and even using reserved seats? He’s pretty used to it, so he’s probably done it many times before.
There were 218 cases of gold smuggling interdicted, totalling over 700kg, and the total amount seized was approximately 268kg. Koreans were third, accounting for 22% of the cases interdicted. Vietnam came first with 37%, and Taiwan came second with 26%.
