“I wanted money” – Fukuoka technical intern arrested for allegedly punching a woman he didn’t know on the street, knocking her down, injuring her and stealing her wallet
A 28-year-old Indonesian man was arrested on the 16th for allegedly punching a woman he did not know, knocking her down, injuring her by stepping on her, and stealing her wallet on the street in Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City. The man arrested on suspicion of robbery and assault is Indonesian suspect Rohmat Hidayat (28), whose address and occupation are unknown. According to the police, on the 15th, just after 9pm on the street in Takuma, Sawara Ward, Fukuoka City, Rohmat Hidayat punched a 25-year-old woman in the neck from behind as she was walking, and when she turned around he punched her multiple times in the face, causing her to fall, and then he is accused of assaulting her by stepping on her stomach and covering her mouth, injuring her, and stealing 600 yen in cash, her wallet, and her pouch. The woman suffered a swollen cheek and a cut lip. Police officers who responded to the call found suspect Rohmat Hidayat, who resembled the suspect, on a street about one kilometer away at around 10pm. During questioning, he was found to be carrying a wallet believed to belong to the victim, and was arrested at around 5:00 a.m. on the 16th.
When questioned by police, he admitted to the charges, saying, “There is no doubt that I did it.”
According to the residence card he possessed, Rohmat Hidayat is a technical intern trainee.
