No Meat Eaten in Akita Supermarket Bear Attack, Deli Sections Ransacked

After a bear broke into a supermarket in Tsuchizaki Port, Akita City, and attacked an employee, a check was made on the sales floor after the bear was removed and it was discovered that the meat and deli sections had been ransacked, but that packaged meat had not been eaten. According to Akita City’s Agricultural Land and Forestry Management Division, a drone was used on the 2nd to investigate the inside of the supermarket in Tsuchizaki Port, Akita City, where the bear had entered. A vase near the entrance to the sales floor was broken, and products in the meat and deli sections of the store were vandalized. However, there was no evidence that the packaged meat had been eaten. The female bear that had entered the store was captured in a box trap by the city and others on the 2nd. Akita City continues to check the bear’s entry routes using security cameras installed in stores.
