A male doctor working at a municipal hospital in Ako City, Hyogo Prefecture, has been indicted without being placed in custody for failing to properly handle a patient during surgery, resulting in permanent damage including paralysis of both legs. The defendant, Hiroki Matsui (46), a doctor working at Ako Municipal Hospital, was indicted without being placed in custody on charges of professional negligence resulting in injury. ■ “By failing to provide proper treatment, he accidentally severed part of the nerve in the lower back, causing sequelae such as paralysis of both legs.”
The 79-year-old female patient had lower back pain but was able to walk adequately. In January 2020, Matsui diagnosed her with spinal stenosis at Ako City Hospital, a condition in which nerves are compressed due to deformation of the hip bones, making it difficult to move the legs. Matsui is accused of failing to take proper steps when performing surgery on the female patient to remove part of her lower back bone with a drill, accidentally severing part of the nerve in her lower back, causing permanent injuries including paralysis of both legs. ■The suffering of a woman who underwent surgery: “Please cure my pain. Get your feet moving. Otherwise, she would die.” The woman continued to suffer from intense pain due to the severed nerves, and was also left with the inability to feel the urge to urinate or defecate. *Full article available at the following source: Friday, December 27, 2024, 1:23 pm, FNN Prime Online/Kansai TV.

They need to be unanimous in removing him from the medical community.
