Rakuten begins offering “Rakuten Unmanned Delivery” service using automated delivery robots in the Harumi area. More than 5,300 products from Starbucks, Yoshinoya, and Bunkado are delivered even at night and in the rain – Robosta November 6, 2024 by Robosta Editorial Department Rakuten Group Inc. has officially launched “Rakuten Unmanned Delivery,” a product delivery service for retail stores and restaurants using automated delivery robots, in the entire Harumi area of Chuo Ward, Tokyo, and parts of Tsukishima and Kachidoki (around Harumi) from November 6, 2024. This is the first time that Rakuten has offered a delivery service using autonomous delivery robots within Tokyo. The automated delivery robot will operate autonomously and remotely without any human accompaniment. Customers (users) can order from a dedicated smartphone website, and an automated delivery robot will deliver products from three stores: Starbucks Coffee Harumi Triton Square Store, Supermarket Bunkado Tsukishima Store, and Yoshinoya Harumi Triton Square Store. Users can pick up their items at the designated delivery location. Shipping costs are 100 yen. The store offers over 5,300 items, including hot dishes, cold drinks, fresh and frozen foods, and daily necessities, to support daily life in a variety of situations, such as preparing meals on busy days, purchasing daily ingredients and necessities, and procuring daily necessities at short notice. Delivery will be to 62 locations, including apartment complexes, offices, and parks around Harumi. It can be used not only at home, but also during breaks at work or when you’re out and about. This service will be available every day, including at night and on rainy days, except for some periods such as during the New Year holidays. Delivery times can be specified in 15-minute increments between 10:00 and 21:00, from as little as 30 minutes to as long as six days in advance. The current location of the automated delivery robot and the estimated arrival time can also be checked on a dedicated website. You don’t have to wait long to receive your goods. Upon arrival, you can collect your item by entering the PIN number provided via automated voice call and SMS into the aircraft’s control panel. I think a lot of people would be happy to spend 100 yen a meal. It would be a great help if I could use the time I would normally spend buying food during my lunch break while working from home to do housework.
They’re available at night and on rainy days, and the prices are cheaper than Uber Eats. If they keep the prices the same when the area expands and more stores are available, Uber Eats will be driven out.
