I can work even if I’m over 80. When a private company conducted a survey about the senior generation’s views on work, about 70% of the elderly respondents said that “it is possible to work even after the age of 80.” The respondents were 540 men and women aged 65 to 91 who work as apartment management agents. How did these energetic seniors respond when asked what kind of work they would like to do and how they would spend the income they earn from work? The survey was conducted by Wellness, a major agency based in Tokyo, at the end of August, ahead of Respect for the Aged Day on the 16th. Approximately 3,240 people (average age 70) are registered with the company, and they are dispatched to apartment buildings where the manager is absent. The respondents were 481 men and 59 women.
