Generation Z’s target annual income is 4 to 5 million yen, but they place more importance on work-life balance, and the national burden rate is about 50%, which means a difference in take-home pay compared to “people in their 20s of the past.”

A survey has revealed that many members of Generation Z have a realistic future annual income goal of 4 to 5 million yen, and that they place more importance on work-life balance than income. Target annual income is 4 to 5 million yen, and work-life balance is important. Human Holdings, which handles education and human resources businesses, conducted a survey on Gen Z’s views on work. (Survey period: April 25-26, 2024; Survey subjects: 1,000 men and women aged 20-28)
For both men and women, the most popular future target annual income was 4 to 5 million yen. Since the average annual income for 2022 announced by the National Tax Agency is 4.58 million yen, perhaps this means that “average income is fine.” In response to the question, “What does ’working in a way that suits you’ mean to you?” only 9.4% answered “to increase income,” less than 10%, while the top three answers were “working while maintaining a work-life balance” at 17.6% and “clearly separating work and private life” at 13.9%. In terms of the systems they would like to see introduced in the workplace, 40.9% chose “three days off per week,” followed by “permission to have a side job or work multiple jobs” at 26.7%, and “flexible working hours” at 26.4%. Difference in take-home income between “the 20s of the past” and now… Interest in side jobs and asset formation

It’s not unreasonable for people in their 20s to feel that 4-5 million yen is enough.
If you’re living in a one-room apartment and just playing with your smartphone, that’s enough.
But once you start a family and have to take on other people’s responsibilities,
you’ll realize that the more money you have, the better, because it expands your possibilities.

It’s normal for both spouses to work, so a married couple
with an annual income of 8-10 million yen
is pretty comfortable
I think that’s fine
It’s not just men’s time anymore.

It’s the opposite.
I think a couple with an annual household income of 8-10 million yen who want to have three days off a week and share housework and childcare responsibilities is a way of thinking that suits the way families are formed in this day and age.

In Christianity, work is something that “must not be done.” It was given to Adam and Eve as a “punishment” for eating the apple. It is something that should not be done. Therefore, Christians consider living without working to be their number one priority. Working is the same as going against God.
