[TOKYO, 18TH REUTERS] – According to the Bank of Japan’s funds flow statistics for the July-September period released on the 18th, household financial assets at the end of September stood at 2,179 trillion yen, down for the first time in eight quarters from the end of the previous quarter. This was due to the fall in stock prices and the rise in the yen in August. At the end of June, it was 2,214 trillion yen, the highest since the end of March 2005. This was a 2.8% increase from the previous year. The breakdown is as follows: stocks and other assets increased 7.2% to 285 trillion yen, and investment trusts increased 23.3% to 125 trillion yen. The growth rate fell below that at the end of June due to falling stock prices and a stronger yen. Cash and deposits increased 0.3% to 1,116 trillion yen.
