[Movie] Katsuya Maikuma stars in the film “It’s Kirishima,” in which he plays Satoshi Kirishima, a serial corporate bomber who has been on the run for 49 years.
On September 12th, it was revealed that Katsuya Maikuma (37) will star in the film “Kirishima Desu” (directed by Tomoaki Takahashi, to be released next year), which depicts the suspect, Satoshi Kirishima, who was wanted for his involvement in a series of corporate bombings and died in January this year at the age of 70 after 49 years on the run. A socially conscious entertainment piece that weaves fiction into news reports and historical facts. Using only a little information, he created a look exactly like the photo attached to the wanted poster and played out his life on the run all by himself. The aim is to have the film submitted to overseas film festivals such as the Berlin Film Festival (Germany). ◇◇◇ Maikuma, who has made remarkable progress by appearing in two consecutive NHK taiga dramas, “What Will Ieyasu Do?” last year and “To You, Who Shines”, which is currently airing, has taken on a crucial role as an actor. “Kirishima Desu” was planned by director Takahashi (75) and screenwriter Aki Kajiwara (51), who also directed “At the Bus Stop Until Dawn” (2010), which swept domestic film awards, and was inspired by a real incident, just like that film. Although footage and newspapers from that time are also featured, the emphasis is on Kirishima’s daily life, in which he worked as a live-in employee at a construction company and continued to live under the name “Uchida Hiroshi.” The story also depicts the youth of one man whose life on the run was inextricably linked to a tentative romantic relationship. When he received the offer, he said, “It’s not an imitation, and I don’t have enough material to do an imitation. I thought it would be quite difficult.” Nevertheless, he immediately began to feel up to the challenge, saying, “Playing a character that’s hard to understand seemed fun rather than scary for me as an actor.” With only a few photographs and footage, emotions welled up within him as he faced Kirishima’s 49 years, created his character, and performed with anguish. “Of course I had escaped and was living under a false name, but as my friends were being arrested one by one I felt like I was being left behind…I felt an intense sense of loneliness.” That feeling allowed him to recreate what Kirishima would look like at each age without the use of special makeup. The incident is brought into focus again, with the scene where the man confesses, “I’m Kirishima Satoshi,” and dies, becoming one of the film’s highlights. Maikuma said, “Some people have said that maybe he wanted to die using his real name, but I don’t think that was the case. But I didn’t want to decide either way.” The only place you can see Maikuma = Kirishima, who has reached the ultimate state of mind, is on the screen. ◆The serial corporate bombings and suspect Kirishima Satoshi Between 1974 and 1975, a total of 12 bombings were carried out by the extremist group “East Asia Anti-Japanese Armed Front.” The suspect was a member of one of the groups, “Sasori,” and was put on the wanted list in May 1975 on suspicion of violating the Explosives Control Act for blowing up the Korea Industrial Economic Research Institute in Ginza, Tokyo, with a homemade time bomb on April 19 of the same year. He suddenly confessed on January 25th of this year while hospitalized in a hospital in Kanagawa Prefecture, and passed away on the 29th.
>>24 Someone who played the same role as Kirishima in this terrorist group got 18 years in prison Kirishima only became famous because he kept on the run and because he was in a wanted photo, he’s not that important If he’d been caught, he’d have been out in about 20 years and could have lived a decent life from there, but he’s been on the run for 50 years, he’s an idiot
I was thinking someone might make a movie out of this, but Takahashi Tomoaki’s work seems like Naoko Kikuchi’s life on the run would be more suitable for a movie than this one.
There’s been an increase in films based on the true story of criminals recently. I don’t know what the truth is, but I personally like this genre, so I like it.
