Mother who gave birth at age 15 criticized for “poorly treating the child”, EXIT’s Kanechika says, “If you’re going to criticize, then help her first” and “Adults who dismiss her by saying she “got what she deserves” are terrible.”
8/14 (Wed) 14:55 The news program “Abema Prime” is broadcast live on the “Abema News Channel” from 9pm on weekdays. On the broadcast on the 8th (Thursday), the program covered the case of a mother who gave birth at the age of 15, whom the program interviewed four years ago. Yokoi Momoka, who is now 22 and raising her son, a first-grade elementary school student, alone, reflected on the reaction after the broadcast, saying, “I received a lot of supportive comments, but some were also saying, ’I feel sorry for the child,’ and that really hurt.” Kanechika Daiki of the comedy duo EXIT, who serves as the show’s MC, commented, “I always think that if you’re going to criticize them and say they’re ’pitiful,’ you should first help them, lend them a hand. I feel like there are far too many people who are self-absorbed and wave their own sense of justice around.” She also pointed out, “I think it’s terrible that adults don’t give girls proper sex education, and then when they get pregnant they just dismiss them and say, ’It’s your own fault.’” She added, “If you get pregnant when you’re young, they’ll say it’s ’too early,’ and some people will say that it’s dangerous for people who give birth in their 30s. How are we treating pregnancy and childbirth?” she asked. My partner, Rintaro. “The words we should say to her right now as she is working hard to raise her child are not slanderous. Even if she said that, tomorrow would come for her and her child. I think we need to think about how to help children grow up healthy,” and TV personality Yuki Poyo added, “In response to the critical voices, I simply thought, ’Shut up. Momoka is the one raising the child, and it’s her family that supports her, so the people criticizing her are completely irrelevant,” he said frankly. Yokoi added, “When you start raising children at a young age, people around you can look at you with harsh eyes. Even when I went to the government office to ask for advice, they would just laugh at me coldly and say, ’Why don’t you know that?’, and when I took time off work because my child was unwell, they would give me a dirty look and say, ’You had a child at a young age, after all.’” She revealed the anguish she had experienced up until now, but added, “Right now, I think raising my child is going well. This is because I have the support of my family, local people, friends of my age, and fellow moms. “It’s thanks to the support of those around us that we are who we are today as a family,” he said, expressing his gratitude to those around him. If both sides of the family help out, it’s not hard to support one child. In fact, it would be better if giving birth at a young age became more common. Japanese people have such stupid ideas.
>>25 The advantage of early birth is that the grandparents are young. It seems that grandparents helping with child rearing is a strength of humans that other mammals don’t have.
The only thing that came to mind was to have the man pay child support, to stop him getting away with it, and to stop him using tax money to help out (´・ω・`).
I watched this guy’s video a few years ago and there were far more supportive comments than slanderous comments. Why do people ignore those comments and only pick out the bad parts to stir up trouble?
