An X-post posted by Senator Eriko Imai (41) on the 9th, the day the House of Representatives was dissolved, has been inundated with 1,900 comments. “The 214th Extraordinary Diet Session has concluded. The House of Representatives was dissolved today and a general election will be held, with the announcement on October 15th and the voting on the 27th. Your vote will shape the future,” he wrote, posting a photo of himself looking out the window from a luxurious Western-style room decorated with old photos of the Liberal Democratic Party in the House of Councillors, presumably inside the Diet. Comments on recent posts had generally ranged from a few dozen to around 200, but this time an unusually large number of comments were received. The situation has become abuzz with harsh comments such as, “She still has that celebrity mentality,” “She should submit a report on her ’France training’,” “Please explain the trip to France right now,” “She’s still in that idol mentality,” “She should present the report on her France inspection to the public,” “Doesn’t she realize that uploading a photo like this will cause an uproar?”, “Is that a pose?” and “We don’t need an image photo.”
