Five years ago, Hashimoto Kanna’s agency rejected the unreasonable request to take a “miracle photo” or “once in a millennium photo,” because “it would make Hashimoto’s manager upset.”
The “power harassment scandal” that is rocking national actress Kanna Hashimoto (25), who is currently starring in the NHK morning drama series “Omusubi,” is taking an unexpected turn. Hashimoto’s allegations of power harassment were reported in the October 31st issue of Shukan Bunshun (Bungeishunju). The article included episodes such as Hashimoto harshly scolding managers if they made a mistake in the timing of offering drinks or parasols, and reported that as many as eight managers have quit their jobs as a result of her “severe power harassment.” Bunshun’s investigation was aimed at Hashimoto, who is known for her cheerfulness, energy and clear, outstanding looks. Her agency published a “rebuttal” on their website on the day Bunshun was released, which was unusual. “The agency’s role is to protect its talent. So, in the rebuttal written under the president’s name, Hashimoto’s power harassment allegations were completely denied as “groundless”… but what’s more, the president wrote something that seemed to half-admit his own power harassment.” (TV variety show insider) (omitted) ■Hashimoto’s “manager will get upset” “NG” A story of something bad that happened in the past at Hashimoto’s agency. This was also reported in a weekly magazine five years ago. “This was reported in ‘Shukan Shincho’ (Shinchosha, January 3rd and 10th, 2019 issue), but at the time, Hashimoto’s manager had a very bad reputation. Around that time, Hashimoto appeared in various media outlets to promote the movie he was starring in, but he says that the media made an “unusual” request. The wording there was also quite unconventional, and it caused controversy at the time.” (The aforementioned variety show insider) The instructions to the media in question included not asking about the Fukuoka idol group Hashimoto was a member of, and not asking any questions related to idols, and it was also not allowed to write things like “a miracle photo” or “a once-in-a-millennium beauty,” but “the reason was that if they did that, ‘Hashimoto’s manager would get upset.’ It’s common for the talent themselves to be sensitive and ask the manager to stop because it makes them upset, but it’s not normal for the media to be considerate and ask the manager not to upset. >>1 She did the “Sennen pose” at Kohaku so there’s no way she doesn’t like it I wonder if the reason so many managers are quitting is because of bossy managers like Mary.
>>1 What’s wrong with Hashimoto Kanna Why did they suddenly start this negative campaign? This is a common pattern when someone transfers to another agency or goes independent, but it wouldn’t have happened if the agency was furious. This is unusual for a celebrity with so many commercials, who is in the middle of starring in an NHK morning drama and is also preparing to host the Red and White Song Battle at the end of the year. But if Bunshun is serious, what will NHK do about using Hashimoto Kanna? *grins*
>>28 The Miracle Piece was also featured in a corner of London Hearts, and they made a calendar every year I don’t know if they’re still doing it though.
No matter how things go, the moment the agency president wrote that the power harassment was about me, I realized that Hashimoto’s power harassment was a fact.
Normally, you wouldn’t admit that the power harassment occurred and then say that it was actually me. I said that because I was protecting someone, but if it wasn’t true, I would just deny it.
I understand that it’s a bit of a hurdle to say “once in a millennium” but it’s not uncommon to not talk about your early days. Nakama Yukie, Shinohara Ryoko, Ayase Haruka, Hamasaki Ayumi, Matsushima Nanako, and many others.
It feels like the president and manager are getting their hands dirty to protect the cash cow. President is just a title, it’s the hashikan that actually makes the money.
