Matsumoto Hitoshi to release statement “I apologize to anyone who has been offended or hurt,” and “I have confirmed that there is no physical evidence.”
It has been learned from multiple sources that comedian Hitoshi Matsumoto (61), of the comedy duo “Downtown,” will withdraw his lawsuit against Shukan Bunshun over its reporting of “sexual assault” on the evening of the 8th, and that he plans to issue a statement containing an apology, saying, “I apologize to anyone who has been offended or hurt.” In its comment, the company also explained that it had “confirmed that there is no direct physical evidence” of the forced sexual acts reported in Shukan Bunshun. *Continued for a fee *Previous thread.
>>1 By dropping the lawsuit, he can no longer get a court decision to prove that he did not commit sexual assault, so he won’t have any sponsors I guess it’s hopeless for him to return to TV shows… He’ll probably be able to do as much as he wants on YouTube like Miyasako did, though.
You should have made this comment right after Bunshun attacked you last year. What on earth was “I will fight without any basis” about? What on earth has this past year been about?
There’s a difference between settlement and withdrawal. In settlement, both parties make concessions. In withdrawal, the other party needs to agree, but the other party doesn’t need to make concessions.
If he had admitted it from the beginning, apologized and paid compensation, he might have been suspended for a certain period and could have returned by now.
>>9 I think there was a line there It’s just not possible anymore. There is no chance that he will return to television (although it may be possible if sponsored by Takasu Clinic).
A boycott is inevitable. He can’t return because his sponsor would probably not allow it. Maybe it would be OK if it was Amagasaki cable TV? But if the city is a shareholder, would that be a no-go? But it’s no laughing matter anymore, is it?
“We confirmed that there was no direct physical evidence.” It’s the other way around. They confirmed that there was direct physical evidence, so they ran away before it could be presented in court. Otherwise, the trial wouldn’t have been cancelled three days before it was due to start.
