The new Nintendo Switch is something that gaming lovers all over the world are eagerly awaiting. There are many rumors going around, but one that we’ve heard is that the initial shipment number will be around 7 million units. Largest number of units shipped The number of units shipped was discussed on the message board reddit. According to the source, wccftech, the user who posted this has made posts related to the new Nintendo Switch in the past, so although they are a mysterious user, they are not unreliable. The post does not explicitly state how many units will be shipped initially, but comments that it will be about 2.5 times the number of Nintendo Switch initial shipments in the US market. If we simply calculate this 2.5 times as the initial global shipment volume, it comes to 6.5 million to 7 million units. This is a fairly large number in terms of initial shipments of game consoles. The whole world is on standby. 7 million units worldwide. Even though this is said to be a large number for the initial shipment of a game console, is it a number that will actually be available at launch? For reference, according to the financial results report released in early November, the number of Nintendo Switch (all models) shipped from the first to second quarters of the 2025 fiscal year (April to September 2024) was 4.72 million units. The cumulative sales of the Nintendo Switch (released in 2017) is 146.04 million units! Doing very simple math, if one in ten people who have bought the previous version were to buy the new one, they would need about 14.6 million units. However, the numbers rumored this time are merely the initial shipment numbers. The number of units shipped in the first year of release is expected to be much higher than this. Nintendo has seen a situation where the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/Series S were completely unavailable due to stock shortages (due to the coronavirus pandemic). They have already declared that they will prepare enough units to meet demand. Seven million units may be a reassuring number. However, if you absolutely want one, you’ll need to make a reservation.
>>24 Thanks That’s surprisingly fast I’ll buy it if there’s no panic buying and I can buy it normally I skipped the switch so there seem to be a lot of games I want to play Hooray for backward compatibility.
I guess I’ll wait and see if there aren’t any games I want to play at launch. I’d like a PS5 Pro in the future, but I’m surprised they released one even though there aren’t any games that require a Pro.
>>31 > Why isn’t the price of the Switch increasing like the PS5? Unlike the PS5, it’s a low-cost console, and Nintendo wants to make it affordable for kids too.
>>31 They’ve been able to maintain the price by not lowering it. If they had continued to do so, it wouldn’t be strange for them to have lowered the price, so not lowering it could be considered a price increase.
