While searching for a husband, Aiko met a younger man named Kouki on a dating app. He’s not bad looking and works for a major IT company, so I thought maybe it would be okay! But then… We went out to eat together and to my surprise, we split the bill down to the last yen!! At first glance, it seems like a shocking “split-the-bill man” and a “Showa-era woman” who takes it for granted that she will be treated would never be able to understand each other, but little by little they come to understand each other and start to be attracted to each other… A romantic comedy manga about a thirty-something woman who is still stuck in old values and is looking for a husband, and who updates her values through her love for a rational, science-oriented man. “The story of a woman still stuck in the Showa era and who believes that ’women deserve to be treated’” The first volume of this work has just been released and is attracting a lot of attention. We spoke to the author, Natsuko Konishi, about the behind-the-scenes stories of its creation. ■An interview with author Natsuko Konishi I spoke with Natsuko Konishi, the author of “A story about a woman still stuck in the Showa era who believes that ’women deserve to be treated,’ and her search for a husband.” –The story of this work is about Aiko, who is looking for a husband, and the contents are quite realistic, but have you yourself ever been on the hunt for a husband? Or is the story based on stories from people around you? Actually, I have had experience looking for a husband. Not all of the episodes in the story are my own experiences, but I have expanded on and included things I felt while searching for a partner, and as part of my search for a partner I have looked at many related books and videos, so perhaps the story is able to include real-life situations regarding the search for a partner in real life. –Since you have experience in matchmaking…are there any tips you’ve noticed for finding a partner? I think that people who are unstable like Aiko would be better off consulting a professional counselor rather than using an app. So-called matching apps don’t necessarily only contain people who are seriously looking for a marriage partner… In the marriage market, age is a common criterion that everyone uses, but I think being able to talk to the other person with consideration for them and communicate normally even when meeting for the first time is surprisingly difficult, and is also important. –You mentioned age, but I thought Aiko’s words, “When did I start thinking in terms of age rather than personality or compatibility?” were particularly realistic. Have you ever felt the same way, Konishi-san? I, too, had a set age range in mind when looking for a partner. Many people, both men and women, are concerned about their partner’s age, but this seems to be especially noticeable among men. I’m sure there are some people who simply like young people, but I think the biggest issue is childbirth. I have heard angry voices saying, “Men judge women by their age!” and I myself have sometimes felt that it was unfair, but I can’t help but think that to a certain extent it is unavoidable… Continue reading below [walkerplus] 2024/10/11 19:00.
Another pointless marriage-related manga? There were a ton of unemployed part-timers, like aspiring manga artists, at the marriage-related manga market.
That said, while there are people in their 20s who think this is a bit too much, it’s also true that there are people in their 40s who want to get into the swing of things.
Marriage means you’ll be given preferential treatment if you have children, so isn’t it common sense that women should only have children up to 35 and men up to 45? Men can have children even older, but even if they can, there are issues like disabled children.
There are only these kinds of kid-uncles in the marriage market. Mama’s boys. Unpopular. Selfish. Marriage hunting is about choosing from among them. If you don’t like it, then just fall in love and get married.
