Gyuukaku’s “Half-price Sale for Women” comes under fire, with Tanukana’s opinion “Of course it’s gross and strange that men complain,” and “They really want a 2,000 yen discount that badly.”
On the 3rd, female streamer “Tanukana” (10,000 subscribers) expressed her opinion on the major yakiniku chain “Gyukaku’s” half-price campaign for women. In her live Twitch stream, Tanukana covered the campaign that Gyukaku is running from the 2nd to the 12th. To commemorate their participation in the “Tokyo Girls Collection” to be held at Saitama Super Arena on the 7th, they are offering half-price all-you-can-eat buffet for the period only, but this has sparked a flurry of posts on x pointing out this discrimination against men. There is a rumor spreading online that “men can get half price if they identify as female,” meaning that it’s okay as long as they insist they are female, to which Gyukaku has responded, “Each store will make the appropriate decision.” Upon seeing a user’s post saying, “Apparently you can get a discount by faking your gender identity,” Tanukana was shocked, saying, “Well, I guess they should just do it,” and “They want to go to such lengths to get a 2,000 yen discount?” Currently, this campaign is receiving a flood of reservations, and Tanukana opines that “it must be a great success for the company.” Also, since this campaign is to commemorate the company’s participation in the “Tokyo Girls Collection,” he dismissed the question, saying, “Well, then isn’t it enough if it’s just women?” without any debate. She also dismisses the fact that “men who complain are, of course, gross and strange,” but adds that “it also brings to light the strangeness of feminists, who have been criticizing everything up until now.” “Instead of trying to avoid either of us suffering, we should just leave each other alone,” he says. “Shut up, we’re both talking about each other. “The point is, don’t say anything,” he concludes. If men and women were on equal footing, it would be women who have always been at a disadvantage, and would have to pay for what men have paid. If you think about all the profits they’ve made up until now, a limited-time half-price event for just a few days won’t make up for it.
>>11 There are men who eat small amounts and women who eat large amounts, so I wonder if it’s right to make a blanket distinction based on gender. It may not have been an issue in the past, but it has made me think about diversity.
The issue isn’t about the amount, but whether it’s fair to change retail prices based solely on gender. Dual pricing wouldn’t be a problem if there was a rational reason, such as a discount for locals or students, but I don’t think it would be acceptable to change the price just based on gender.
People who say it’s discrimination when it’s just preferential treatment for women are absolutely stupid. They’re lumping everything together as discrimination. It’s stupid, but they should stop.
Well, it’s true that places that attract a lot of women are more lively. For some reason, even though there’s nothing going on specifically for the women, men, ugly guys, and nerdy guys all gather there.
