Customer harassment A malicious customer who spills ramen all over the restaurant “Don’t mess with me, your attitude!” One in two people in the service industry are victims of “customer harassment”
Customer harassment, or verbal abuse or unreasonable complaints by customers, is now a problem. According to a survey, one in two people working in the service industry are victims of malicious complaints. We interviewed the reality of customer harassment, which continues to spread.
A video of customer harassment that occurred at a ramen shop in Okinawa Prefecture in June 2024 remains. Two male customers start eating the ramen they ordered, but after a while, their attitude suddenly changes.

“They asked me if I wanted chili pepper, so I offered them chili pepper, but they said they didn’t like my attitude. They said, ’Don’t mess with me, your attitude.’”
The male customer found fault and suddenly tried to grab the staff member. He then splattered his own ramen all over the counter. He also splattered the ramen of the customer who came with him on the floor and left the store.
The next day, the man came to apologize and said, “I was drunk and don’t remember.” However, the restaurant plans to file a police report, as it is not just a drunken affair.
In footage provided by the taxi company, the passenger begins to complain about the driver’s attitude. The driver continues to apologize, but the passenger hurls insults at him that are unbearable to listen to.
In another video, the passenger becomes violent, and the driver is forced to call the police. The passenger then resorts to the violent act of spitting on the driver.
>>7 If anything, there are more ramen shops with bad attitudes These rumors spread slowly and Then it becomes a vicious cycle that attracts dangerous customers who think, “I’m going to teach you a lesson.”
>>19 The barrier to opening a ramen shop is low, and you don’t need to study cooking, so I think a lot of owners misunderstand and take their customers for granted.
I often hear and hear people say that they don’t remember things because they’ve been drinking, but does that really mean you lose your memory even if you’re drunk enough that you can still move around on your own? I don’t usually drink, and I’m a tormentor so I just get sleepy, so I can’t believe at all that people don’t remember things because of alcohol lol
>>27 Sometimes your memory comes back after a few years, but sometimes you can lose your memory even if you can talk and move normally. It depends on how you drink.
Do you really care about attitude? I think service should be commensurate with the price. If they bring you beer or food, just say thank you. If you want the ultimate in service, go to a place like Wolfgang’s, which charges a 20% service charge…they’re surprisingly friendly.
Because no one pays attention to them socially, they get rowdy as customers. They should just quietly enjoy their meal, say “thanks for the meal” and go home. Their level as human beings is too low.
