Price increase of up to 78%... More than 130 items including KitKat and coffee will see price increases from February 2025. Reasons include the rising prices of coffee and cocoa beans.
On the 7th, Nestle Japan announced that it will raise prices or reduce the volume of 133 items, including coffee-related products and chocolate confectionery, starting in February 2025. Price increases will range from 6 to 78% for beverages and 7 to 44% for snacks. For Nescafe Excella refill bags, the content will be reduced from 95 grams to 60 grams, the suggested retail price will be raised from 537 yen to 605 yen (tax included), and KitKat snacks will be reduced from 13 pieces to 11 pieces. This is the first price increase for KitKat in a year since March 2024, due to the long-term weakening of the yen and rising prices of coffee and cocoa beans. fnn prime online Thursday, November 7, 2024 at 9:08 pm.
Assuming that a 100 yen chocolate has a cost price of 10 yen, even if the price of cocoa beans doubles, the chocolate will still be 110 yen and the profit will remain the same, so if they jump on the bandwagon and raise the price to 150 yen, they’ll make a huge profit.
>Starting in February 2025, 133 items, including coffee-related products and chocolate confectionery, will be increased in price or reduced in volume, effectively raising prices. Japs increase prices while reducing the volume, after all. They’re leaving out things like new products that have become tastier.
When I went to the supermarket I was shocked to see chocolate bars being shoved up in the trash. I used to be able to buy it for 100 yen, but now it’s double that price, what a pain!
