Partner of female announcer who came under fire for body odor post warns against false posts and slander “It’s not surprising that something life-threatening could happen at any time.”
On the 13th, Takumi Nagare of Gaiax Inc., the partner of freelance announcer Yuri Kawaguchi (29), who came under fire for her posts about men’s body odor, updated his account on x (formerly Twitter). The warning was sounded in response to false posts and slanderous comments about Kawaguchi being spread on social media. Nagare said, “Kawaguchi Yuri herself is feeling depressed, so I’m posting on her behalf, but I wanted to let you know that something far more serious than most people can imagine is happening online. “This is not something that is happening regarding Kawaguchi or me, but rather regarding people who are completely unrelated,” he began, introducing some of the posts, saying, “For example, malicious false content like the one below is being spread on the internet.” The contents of the posts include, “Articles and posts are written in a way that asserts that the people around Kawaguchi have ’disabilities that they do not actually have,’” “These are falsely stated as if they were reliable information taken from Kawaguchi’s Note article,” and “In reality, Kawaguchi did not write such a Note article, so there is no source for the information, but because no one responds without verifying the information, the erroneous information is spread further in various articles and posts.” “This is just one example of what is actually already happening,” he explained. Regarding these malicious postings, he expressed concern that “if this escalates, it is not surprising that something could happen at any time in which more innocent people than you might imagine lose their lives in a way that no one wants.” “It may not be something I should be sending out, but I wanted to post this before it got to this point,” he said. He also stated, “※This post was made with the sole intention of preventing the worst-case scenario described above, and I do not plan to respond to each message individually in order to avoid the risk of the situation worsening further.” “※Because I have determined that this is a serious situation that could involve human lives, I have made this urgent post on my own initiative, without waiting to consult with my company or related organizations.” Regarding Kawaguchi, a post on x on the 8th in which she confessed her true feelings, saying “I really don’t like the smell of men in the summer and the body odor that is particular to men who live unhealthy lifestyles,” and “I want to always be clean so I take showers several times a day and use sweat wipes and antiperspirant all year round, but I wish most men were like that…” sparked a mixed reaction. In response to this, Kawaguchi’s agency, Voice, updated their official website on the 11th. It was reported that the company had terminated its contract with Kawaguchi on the 10th, citing “inappropriate postings that defame the reputation of the opposite sex.” Nikkan Sports.
A common thing with female influencers whose comments have caused controversy: They tend to turn the conversation into an appeal to the victim of slander.
> *A serious situation that could put human lives at risk If I were to do something about this, who would be criticized next? The company that terminated the contract? All men? All human beings who sweat?
Isn’t it scary that someone unrelated to this would die? Is that even possible? Does that mean Kawaguchi Yuri, who is involved, won’t die? Does that mean Kawaguchi Yuri will go crazy and commit indiscriminate street murders? Isn’t this person scary?
This man seems to be interpreting things in a very convenient way, as if he doesn’t think at all about the majority of men who could lose their lives because of this woman’s thoughtless remarks.
