International Are childless politicians ruining America? The background behind why “declining birthrate” has become a point of contention in the presidential election.
[New York] Like Japan and other developed countries, America is also facing a serious problem of declining birth rates. And now it is becoming a major issue in the US presidential election. The presidential election has entered a new phase with the nomination of Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris, and negative campaigning is now escalating. One comment that attracted the most attention was made by Trump’s Republican vice presidential candidate Vance, who was intended to attack Vice President Harris and gay Transportation Secretary Buttigieg. “A miserable politician who has a cat without a child cannot do politics for families,” and further, “Parents with children should be given more voting rights.” These have caused strong backlash and have even escalated into a debate about the causes of the declining birthrate. Trump Republicans say, “Americans don’t want children. This is due to a decadent mindset that would rather drink alcohol and go to Beyonce concerts than raise children,” he said, arguing that the old family values based on Christianity must be restored. But the researchers say, “Young people want to have children. However, the skyrocketing cost of raising children, unpayable student loans, and skyrocketing housing costs are all holding them back. ” he pointed out. As in Japan, the United States is considering measures such as lump-sum payments for children, tax incentives, and expanded parental leave. However, there are few examples around the world of such policies being successful. So what can be done? Climate change and gun violence are frequently cited as the top reasons people don’t want to have children. In other words, I’m really worried about my children’s future. This means that the government needs to do more to address these issues. By the way, the Harris Democrats are pushing for strict climate change measures and gun control. However, Trump’s Republican Party is strongly opposed to both. Furthermore, just recently, an extension of tax deductions for families with children was rejected in the Senate due to Republican opposition, leading to criticism that this is “politics for families.” (Megumi Sherry / Journalist, Millennial and Gen Z commentator) [Nikkan Gendai Digital] 2024/8/12 (Mon) 9:06.
>>1 Because I’ve been looking the other way for so many years. The declining birthrate is hidden on the surface because the number of immigrants is increasing rapidly, but because white people are hardly having children, the white population is decreasing and they are becoming a minority.
The only reason we need children is to prevent the pyramid scheme known as capitalism from collapsing. I’m sick of having too many people, so having fewer children seems like a good thing.
>>11 Trump sent video messages of gratitude to Hak Ja Han and Unification. Even after Abe was killed, he sent video messages of praise and received money. The UN and the EU President also received money from Unification.
Akira Melon, it’s impossible for developed countries to do anything about the declining birthrate Because developed countries can live without children The moment it becomes just another expensive hobby, it’s over.
The leader of Germany’s anti-immigration party is a woman, but she’s openly lesbian… She herself doesn’t try to contribute to maintaining the German population (marriage and childbirth), so saying things like “immigrants should leave” is a joke lol Even if you bash immigrants and pretend to be right-wing, that’s what makes you “womanly.”
In America, even though the population is growing due to an increase in the number of children, are there a proportional number of jobs that pay enough to buy a house?
Real estate prices have risen so much that current teachers and programmers can’t even rent a house and are living in trailers. Trump, the land speculator, needs to do something about it.
I live in the countryside, but there’s nothing bad about a declining birthrate. First of all, it’s an eyesore. I’d be fine with the population decreasing even more.
“Vice President Harris is a miserable cat lady with no children” – Republican vice presidential candidate’s comments cause controversy among celebrities. That’s terrible lol.
Just as the idea that “it is natural for children to care for their parents” has changed, unless we change the idea that “it is natural for parents to raise children,” the declining birthrate will not stop.
>>45 >”It’s natural for parents to raise children” >If we don’t change our thinking >the declining birthrate will never stop. >That was the idea behind the child allowance, but Abe even made “Fools” t-shirts and protested against it, and it was abolished. In retrospect, it may have been the instructions of the pot.

>>45 That’s way off the beaten path of nature. Most animals have their parents raise their young and don’t look after them.
Your attitude is completely different depending on whether you have children or not. If you have children, you truly hope that society will be a better place for your children and grandchildren. If you don’t have children, you can say things like “for the sake of our children’s future” but you don’t really mean it.
Harris doesn’t have any biological children, but she is raising her stepchild, so isn’t that okay? If this is not okay, then we would be denying the first president, George Washington, too.

Is Kishida, who has a wonderful son, the right answer? The Koizumi family, whose Shinjiro is likely to run for party president!? No way!!!!
I think it’s not working because there isn’t enough consideration given to LGBT people in this day and age, or to measures to combat the declining birthrate.
