CNN reported on the 14th that the FBI believes that Thomas Matthew Crooks (20), a resident of Pennsylvania, is the perpetrator of the shooting of former President Trump that occurred on the 13th in Butler, Pennsylvania, in the eastern United States.
Crooks was killed at the scene by the Secret Service. He is registered as a Republican voter, but there is also a record of him donating $15 to a Democratic organization in 2021. [Washington, Akiyama Shinichi]

If the perpetrator had opened fire in a fit of desperation there would have been many more casualties, so shooting him dead was probably the appropriate decision.
