Taro Kono announces his candidacy for the presidency, asked about his response to ordinary people: “If I’m slandered, I’ll block them first” | Tokyo Sports August 26, 2024 18:02 Tokyo Sports Web Taro Kono (61), Minister of Digital Affairs of the Liberal Democratic Party, held a press conference in the Diet on the 26th and announced his candidacy for the presidency. (Omitted) As Minister of Digital Affairs, his strength lies in his ability to communicate using social media. On the other hand, there are also voices questioning the frequent use of blocking on general users on “X” (formerly Twitter). A reporter asked a tough question: “Do you think he has the qualifications to become prime minister?” “There are many people who slander and hurt others behind the anonymous wall of social media without being held accountable,” Kono said. I think this is a very negative aspect of the internet. We need to stop the slander somehow. One is to take legal action, but the other is to block the people who slander us.” He also expressed concern about criticizing the block. “I think it’s a big problem that people stop blocking because they’re afraid of criticism. If you are being slandered, I recommend that you first block the person. I would also like to state loudly that it is wrong to criticize the blocking.” *See source for full text. ※Related threads [LDP Presidential Election] Digital Minister Kono Taro formally announces his candidacy for the party presidential election, “I will be the leader who will lead Japan” ★2 [Gure★] [Candidate for the presidential election] Kono Taro hints at official endorsement of politicians who have secret funds, if he returns them he will draw a line [Nyokinyoki★] Economic growth at the expense of finances, “cannot be sustainable” — Digital Minister Kono [Tokyo Metropolitan Tiger★] ※Previous thread (★12024/08/26 (Mon) 20:02:23.52).
If you receive slander, how about disclosing the information and posting the results on social media? It’s too unfair if one person uses their real name and the other is anonymous.
There’s a difference between slander and policy criticism, but I think it’s ok to block people who attack based on false rumors. Most of the reasons you’re attacking Kono are false rumors, too.
>>12 The anti-Waku copypastas I see often are all rumours from the anti-Waku side, which is hilarious. The anti-Waku people really believe those rumours, so there’s no point in discussing them, and the only options are to block them or sue them.
It’s the same as saying he won’t listen to any criticism. Well, bureaucrats have been saying that for a while, but Kono’s weakness is that he’s overbearing towards everyone except himself. Just like Fukuda.
After Kono became prime minister, he planned to give dual citizenship to Koreans living in Japan, giving them Japanese citizenship in addition to their home country’s citizenship, and to grant Japanese sovereignty to people with foreign citizenship, making Japan a vassal state in Asia.
> Taro Kono announces his candidacy for the LDP presidential election. Asked how he would respond to ordinary people, he said, “If I’m slandered, I’ll block them first.” He doesn’t take the voices of ordinary Japanese people as criticism or opinions, and he’s all about slander. So is it fair to say that LDP presidential candidate Kono is hostile towards the Japanese people and ordinary Japanese voters?
