The cases that were subject to disciplinary measures were “leakage of specially designated secrets,” “fraudulent receipt of diving allowances,” “fraudulent eating,” and “power harassment by internal bureau executives,” as well as “violation of command and supervision duties” by executives in relation to these cases. In relation to the leaking of specially designated secrets, 113 people were suspended, had their pay reduced, or were given warnings for having unqualified personnel handle specially designated secrets related to national security on Maritime Self-Defense Force vessels, including Aegis ships, or for placing them in a situation where they could learn of them. Regarding the “fraudulent receipt of diving allowances,” 11 members of the Maritime Self-Defense Force were dismissed for fraudulently receiving diving allowances despite not actually diving, and a total of 74 members were disciplined, including suspension, pay cuts, and warnings.
