On the 17th, Furukawa Motohisa, Chairman of the Tax Commission of the Democratic Party for the People, attended discussions with the Liberal Democratic Party and Komeito along with Hamaguchi Makoto, Chairman of the Policy Research Council, regarding the raising of the “1.03 million yen annual income threshold” at which income tax is triggered, which the party is calling for. However, within 10 minutes, he left the room and told reporters waiting in the hallway, “It’s been canceled” and “It’s over,” before leaving the room in an angry voice. The meeting was originally scheduled for an hour and was to be attended by the policy chiefs of the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, and Democratic Party for the People, as well as senior members of the Tax Commission. Regarding this issue, the secretaries-general of the Liberal Democratic Party, Komeito, and Democratic Party for the People agreed on December 11 to raise the “1.03 million yen annual income barrier” to 1.78 million yen starting next year. In response, LDP Chairman of the Tax Commission Miyazawa Yoichi stated that he was “unsatisfied,” and at a meeting of Tax Commission executives from the ruling party and the three Democratic Party for the People parties held on the 13th, the ruling party proposed an amount of 1.23 million yen to the Democratic Party for the People, far short of the 1.78 million yen. The Democratic Party for the People rejected the idea, and further negotiations were scheduled to take place on the same day. Miyazawa also commented on the 1.23 million yen amount, saying he “wanted to show sincerity,” which caused a huge outrage on social media, as many people are calling for the “1.03 million yen barrier” to be raised. >>1 In the national financial statements for fiscal year 2021, tax and stamp revenues were about 64 trillion yen and social security-related expenses were about 55 trillion yen In other words, 86% of tax and stamp revenues were used for social security-related expenses. In Japan, one third of the population is over 65 years old and their livelihoods are supported by social security, and two people, including people with disabilities and minors, support the lives of one elderly person, so the burden on the working generation is increasing. We can’t cut taxes without making big cuts to social security spending. Even if we force tax cuts, taxes will eventually increase at some point, and the burden on the people will not be reduced. The Democratic Party for the People, which only calls for tax cuts and no mention of cutting social security spending, is just trying to deceive the people.
In other words, 1.23 million people are bankrupt. So Tamakin wins, right? His stock should be going up in the Ministry of Finance. Social security costs will only go up lol.
There’s no problem with just submitting a motion of no confidence. It’s not like there’s nothing else they want to pass except the budget, so that’s stupid.
I will not vote for no confidence because coordination between the Constitutional Democratic Party and the Japan Innovation Party candidates has not been completed.
With King Bonbi Maehara now in the party, the Ishin Party is on a course to hell no matter what choice they make. If they cooperate with the LDP and Komeito, they will be dragged down the road, but if they cooperate with the Democratic Party for the People, they will only get the credit.
>>24 We were lucky the next election was the House of Councillors election. If it had been the House of Representatives election, it would have been terrible.
The Prime Minister should just shout, “Go with the agreement!” and tell anyone who has a problem to leave the Cabinet. But the Prime Minister can’t do that, so nothing will come together.
Miyazawa-san protected Japan. Japan would have been in trouble if 8 trillion yen had been wasted on policies with vague policy objectives to serve Tamaki’s ambitions as prime minister. I’m grateful to Miyazawa-san for preventing the Tamaki Shock. He’s a modern-day Takahashi Korekiyo.

A summary of what the Democratic Party for the People has done: Once again, they were taken advantage of by the Liberal Democratic Party and ended up deserting before the enemy.

It’s because the Democratic Party for the People rushed into performance without thinking about the source of funds for the tax cuts. They’ve inherited the worst aspects of the old Democratic Party.
