Hyogo gubernatorial election: Important testimony at the 100-article committee: “Prepare 20 million yen” – Former Vice Governor Katayama’s “suspicious fundraising” and “order to increase subsidies by 400 million yen”

After escalating allegations of power harassment, extortion, and misappropriation of public funds, former Hyogo Governor Saito Motohiko lost his job after a unanimous vote of no confidence was passed by 86 prefectural assembly members. The re-election for governor will begin on October 31st, and Saito also intends to run. Prior to this, an investigative committee of the prefectural assembly is investigating allegations surrounding the increase in subsidies led by Saito and the former vice governor. Regardless of who the next governor is, calls for the truth to be revealed will only grow louder. X Foundation, which made a large donation to Hyogo Prefecture

“In a survey of about 9,700 prefectural employees, 40% of respondents said they had seen or heard about power harassment, and 20% said they had seen or heard about gifts being received, so the media has dubbed Mr. Saito the ‘power harassment governor’ and the ‘begging governor.’ But that’s not the crux of the problem. Of more serious concern is the allegation of fraudulently increasing subsidies to financial institutions in connection with fundraising for the parade celebrating the victory of the professional baseball teams Hanshin and Orix, held by Osaka and Hyogo prefectures last November. The prefectural assembly’s special investigative committee, the so-called 100-article committee, met on October 24th and 25th, and testimony from the people involved came out one after another in direct contradiction to the claims of then Vice-Governor Katayama Yasutaka (who resigned in July), who denied the allegations.”
Let’s first look back at what the subsidy issue is that people associated with Hyogo Prefecture are talking about. For the parade on November 23rd last year, Hyogo Prefecture and Osaka Prefecture raised about 500 million yen in donations and announced that no public funds would be used. However, by the day before the event, crowdfunding had only raised about 93 million yen, so the event had to rely on corporate sponsorship. “The final cost was about 653 million yen, but we managed to get by by collecting sponsorship money from 121 corporations totaling about 531 million yen. However, even after the parade, they continued to visit companies and organizations to raise funds, and were finally able to secure the money. “Katayama was the commander in charge of fundraising for Hyogo Prefecture.” (Hyogo Prefecture ex-employee) According to another source familiar with prefectural administration, the prefectures of Osaka and Hyogo held talks about raising the funds that were lacking at the end of the parade, and Hyogo Prefecture was allocated 43 million yen. Of this, Katayama secured at least 40 million yen through two direct routes. One of them is the X Foundation, which was established in Kobe in 2002. The company has close ties with the prefecture, with some departments of the Hyogo Prefectural Police located in the buildings it manages. “The X Foundation had decided to donate 1 million yen in sponsorship money before the parade, and the money was deposited on December 27th, after the parade. However, the very next day, a document was sent to the foundation in the name of Vice Governor Katayama requesting additional support. Although the requested amount was not specified, the prefecture sent an invoice for 20 million yen to the X Foundation on the same day, December 28th, and it appears that an additional contribution of the same amount was decided on the same day. The 20 million yen was paid to the prefecture on January 31st of this year.”

Prefectures with minimum wages of 1,050 yen per hour or more
Tokyo, Osaka
Kanagawa, Hyogo
Chiba, Kyoto
Saitama, Aichi
Even in Tokyo, where the minimum wage is the highest, the hourly wage is a low 1,163 yen. Compared to other developed countries, wages in Japan are far too low.

Don’t forgive Japan, a country ruled by man.
Emotions can even ruin people’s lives.
A country ruled by law is the true democracy.

It’s strange to think that Saito would get through.

Would he request a document in the name of the vice governor to raise funds in a suspicious manner?

So? You’re writing this as if it were a bad thing, but what’s wrong with it?
They simply asked companies to donate to a public event.

Maybe they’re promising to increase subsidies to solicit donations?

It’s no good asking a few companies for help without publicly soliciting!

Since someone from N Party has been spreading scandalous stories, I have no choice but to get to the main topic.

It seems that Saito caught the eye of some underhanded thieves after he’d been destroying all sorts of vested interests.

I believe the sister of the person who committed suicide was an executive at TV Asahi. No wonder there are so many negative reports about Saito at Asahi.

To cast a deceased person, who was neither a politician nor a celebrity whose popularity was theirs, as the villain in a campaign car and use them as PR material for righteousness is beyond imagination when you think about how the family must feel. I think it’s simply excessive.

There’s still one week left, so I hope the weekly magazines do their best. It’ll be tough for the elderly though, as they’re so brainwashed.

Rather than focusing on such issues, the media should clarify whether Tachibana is correct in saying that the employee committed suicide because her affair was about to be discovered, and not because of power harassment. They’ve been reporting for ages that the employee committed suicide because of power harassment, so they need to say whether that was correct or not, otherwise they won’t be able to make a decision in the election.

If the affair is true, wouldn’t Saito’s side also be guilty of blackmail?

Instead of giving 400 million yen in subsidies, donate 20 million yen. But what kind of crime would that be? It’s not a donation to an individual, so it can’t be considered bribery, right?
34Anonymous Donburako.Nov. 1, 2024 (Fri) 10:41:05.26ID:cn2LChl/0
If Saito isn’t reelected, the people of Hyogo Prefecture will be questioned about their judgment. There are forces that desperately want him to resign, and the media and the assembly have followed suit. In the end, no facts worthy of criticism have come to light.

In the first place, it was the coffee maker that sparked the begging. There was a leak in the Yomiuri Shimbun. Since the person she had an affair with seems to be involved in the coffee maker incident, the affair and the solicitation accusation cannot be separated. Stop this pointless resistance and just let it all out.
