Tamotsu Shiiki (58), a former member of the Japan Restoration Party, was arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a girl, knowing that she was under the age of 16. “On September 8th, he was arrested by the Shinjuku Police Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department. He was sent to prosecutors on the 10th,” said a social affairs desk official. On the afternoon of August 20th, Shiiki was on the street in Kabukicho, Tokyo when he approached a first-year junior high school girl he did not know and said, “I’ll give you 20,000 yen if you want to hang out.” The crime is believed to have been committed at a karaoke bar in Kabukicho that they had visited together, and was discovered when the manager of the bar reported that a man and a woman were behaving suspiciously.” Ignoring the police who rushed to the scene, the former congressman “refused to be taken in voluntarily and left the scene. A lengthy investigation then led to an arrest. He admits to having gone into the karaoke booth with the girl, but denies sexual assault…” According to police, the suspect has an unknown occupation and lives in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture.
